Written by Jonathan Larson and directed by Michael Greif, Rent received the 1996 Tony Award for Best Musical, the 1996 Pulitzer Prize for drama, as well as the 1996 New York Drama Critics Circle, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Musical.
